breakandenter 2+U 2 year anniversary
On Saturday, Dec 5th, 2009 breakandenter is proud to celebrate our
2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY!
Yes, a birthday party in true fashion! Well, maybe we won't have pin the tail on the donkey (or will we?! :)), but you get the idea :) Come help us celebrate with an evening of good friends, music and dancing with LOTS OF BASS.
Featuring:
Falko Brocksieper
(Sub Static, Karloff, Tuning Spork, Treibstoff | Berlin)
( Discog | RA | Myspace | Beatport | Interview | Video | Audio1 | Audio2 )
A mainstay of the Cologne underground music/party scene since the early
90s, Falko Brocksieper first garnered international attention with his
releases on such seminal labels as Triebstoff, Resopal and Dumb Unit as
well as his own SubStatic Label founded in 2000. The label, home to
globally acclaimed artists such as Matthew Jonson, Rene Breibarth, and
The Kooky Scientist, as well as Brocksieper’s long time partner and
label collaborator M.I.A., has consistently received rave reviews and
is highly acclaimed for its superior quality releases and fearless
curatorial approach. Not one to rest on his laurels however,
Brocksieper founded Karloff Records in 2004 as a home for more “diverse
and experimental projects“, releasing a full length CD by Canada’s
Frivolous and more recently singles by Jeff Samuel and Coalition of the
Killing (a new live performance incarnation of Ghostly International’s
Kill Memory Crash)
In addition to his work with the two labels, Brocksieper has created a
niche for himself as an in-demand remix artist, reworking tracks for
such notables as, Akufen, Gabriel Ananda and Daypayk to name but a few.
2004 also saw Brocksieper leave Cologne for the techno mecca of Berlin
and begin touring outside of the EU regularly. His most recent tours
have seen him play to packed houses at San Francisco’s Kontrol parties
and New York’s legendary Bunker.
His DJ sets bring both high energy and a true head’s knowledge to the decks.
Moreover, Brocksieper always places special value on mixing up the most recent techno-, house- and minimal records with much-remembered, or even bygone & forgotten classics, in order to pay tribute to simply good and timeless music in his sets. Intensity, energy, and the fun to take a risk are the attributes that characterize his truly memorable performances. His DJ sets bring both high energy and a true head’s knowledge to the decks.
Alicia Hush
(Hushlamb)
Alicia Hush appears quick to arrive on the
Toronto electronic music scene having moved to Toronto just under a
year ago to focus on music and DJing. However, While Alicia Hush could
be seen as a new kid on the Toronto block, she is anything but a new
kid to the decks. DJing for over 8 years, Alicia got her start in
Kitchener playing at friend's parties. Basement parties turned into club
gigs in 2002, and club gigs turned residencies around Kitchener, which
turned into a few in Toronto. Traveling to Taiwan she continued to DJ,
and was voted best foreign female DJ by Taipei Times.
Alicia returned to Canada in 2006 and continued making her mark behind
the decks with her minimal bass-bouncy-tech-tweaky sounds. Within the
last year, she has played along side a variety of talent including Paco
Osuna, Damian Lazarus, Hugo, Daniel Steinberg, Ryan Crosson, and Noah
Pred. Along with establishing two weekly residencies, with partner
Sarah Lamb (HushLamb Productions), Alicia Hush is doing her part to
contribute to the music and city she loves. With her own productions
and label on the go, partnered with her insatiable energy for playing
music, this girl is definitely one to watch.
Martin Fazekas
(breakandenter)
"...Martin Fazekas who jus layed down the dark, dirty, grimyness that even
your most disturbed mind couldn't think of. As soon as you heard that
beat it just made you want to do naughty things on the dancefloor that otherwise shouldn't even be thought of; he just assaulted your mind,
body, & Soul with a relentless beat of the 4x4..."
Nebula
(Juggernaut Music)
Featuring more synthesizers and keyboards and custom built
instruments then most people would know what to do with! This is no
Ableton-only live set!
